The emoji was an improvement from the emote or emoticon. Emote is the pictorial representation of facial expressions using characters. These basic text-based expressions are now established in Unicode emoji language. The emoji or emote for short are believed to have taken inspiration from pictograms or Icons. In the early 1990s, the emoticons and emojis were first seen in pictograms and welcome messages. In 1995, the telecom giant Alcatel launched their first mobile phone with a smiley on its welcome screen as part of a PR run. Later, many Nokia phones too brought in many emojis and icons featured their phones. These were referred to as Smileys at the time. Japan was one of the first countries to widely adopt early emoji set in their phones. Japanese mobile operators like Vodafone, SoftBank Mobile, etc. all implemented the icons sets in their phones in the late 1990s. The smileys were first developed as a set of icons by the smiley company in the year 2001, aimed to allow users to add icons and emojis in their emails and writing on desktop computers. However, till this time the emojis and smileys were dissipated and there was a need to unify them into a universal set being used as a standard all across technologies. It was around this time that Google employees asked Unicode to look into the possibility to create a uniform set of icons. That's when many companies started taking emoji seriously. The modern emoji set that we use today was made available in 2009 with an introduction to the most notable emojis used today. Corporate demand for emoji standardization has forced the Unicode consortium to deviate from their traditional focus of standardizing characters used for minority languages and transcribing historical records. At Iconscout, you can find the latest emojis and emotes such as winking face icons, smiley icons, crying icons, happy face icons, tear emoji icons, sad emoji icons, etc., available for use in your design projects. Red Heart Emoji

The heart shape is symbolic of love all across the world and has been that way visible on all social media channels. The origins of the heart symbol can be traced back to the ancient African continent, hidden in a plant called Silphium. The plant was used in many medicines and as a spice too. But, importantly, it was used in the form of birth control. The plant was so popular that it was extinct by the start of the first century. Some other theorists believe that the heart shape originated in ivy-leaves or leaves of the water lily. Others speculate that the shape was modeled according to the shape of buttocks, breasts, or some other parts of the human body. Historically, the symbol first appeared in an old manuscript as a decoration of the letter 'S'. Some researchers believe that the heart shape is influenced by the pine cone upside down. At Iconscout, you can find the icon in many colors but as popularized by the Unicode consortium, the red heart is famously used in many design projects. The red heart emoji icon is available in editable formats just like other icons and is created by our very own design community. The Red Heart emoji is available in AI, PNG, PSD, ICO, etc. formats and can be edited too without worry.
