How I Created Indian Doodle Illustration Pack

Hi folks! I am back with yet another tutorial blog. We had achieved a tremendous response on the last blog- How I Created Indian Monuments Illustration so that's why I decided to write one for Indian Doodle Illustration as well.  So, after creating so many illustration packs based on a variety of concepts I decided to make something different and fun showing the uniqueness of India. So keeping that in mind and after endless thoughts, I have created Indian doodle illustrations.

Research and Process

Research is the first and most important part of creation. For the research part, I was very much inspired by illustrations library Open Peeps by Pablo Stanley.

I wanted to give some Indian touch to my creation. I added Bindi, Bangles, Earrings, Nose pins, Sarees, Kurta, etc. to express India’s culture. These small details have enhanced every illustration to a whole new level.

The first and foremost thing is processing starts with ideation, different style, concept making, etc.

Concepts

I listed out random activities like having coffee, working at home, singing, or dancing to get a push start on working on the illustration pack. Here is a list of few concepts I finalized.

  1. Thinking
  2. Cycling
  3. Discussing
  4. Texting
  5. Shopping
  6. Skating
  7. Relaxing
  8. Talking
  9. Dog Walking
  10. Serving
  11. Celebrating
  12. Shouting

and many more.

Guideline

Style, View, and Color

Deciding the style and colors is important for every illustration. Before starting this project I had a lot of things in mind and after trying out different styles I was getting to know what I want from my sketches. We wanted to give a realistic yet cartoonish look so we stuck to minimalism. After going through lots of trial sketches and styles we came to these conclusive decisions we finalized Doole style which will have basic black and white colors.

Sketches

I also wanted to give it a hand-drawn effect so sketching played an important role in these illustrations. Here are some of the sketches I have created:

Process:

These illustrations might seem to have a hand-drawn effect but these are fully vector. Here are some glimpse of the making of the illustrations.

Final result

The most incredible thing was to see all 100 illustrations together showing different yet random activities. Small Indian details just uplifting every illustration on its own unique way. These vector illustrations available in SVG, PNG, and EPS file formats.

Usage

As these illustrations are fully vectored they have N number of use cases. They can be used as product illustrations, marketing imagery, comics, product states, use flows, personas, storyboarding, invitations, and whatnot.

How to download free illustrations?

These illustration pack contains 100 illustrations and those are totally free to download. You can use them in personal as well as commercial purposes. Click on the below button to download and enjoy the pack!

Learnings

The most difficult task for me was to maintain consistency throughout the project. At one point it gets harder for me to even decide the concepts but after a lot of research and guidance, I completed the whole project containing 100 different illustrations.

Special thanks to my Iconscout team for always supporting, guiding, and motivating me throughout the project. Pushing me to bring out the best really means a lot. My experience with this fun doodle illustration project has been great.

Hope it was useful for you guys!
