Interview: Faris Muhtadi, Designer and UI Magician

1. Tell us about your role and what you do.

Hi everyone ??

I'm Faris, a user interface (UI) Magician from Indonesia who loves to contribute to the design community. While contributing to IconScout, I worked as a creative director to determine the illustrations that were to be created, the concepts, styles, and other aspects of the illustrations. I also created the thumbnail preview images for each asset pack. Then the Fuwa Team’s 3D designers took care of the 3D part.

As soon as the illustrations are designed, I check the quality, give feedback and create the preview for the illustration pack to make our illustrations stand out from others.

2. What is your primary source of inspiration, and what is your creative process in creating these awesome, fun designs?

Inspiration comes from wherever I go, like from the sites I visited or from everything I see in this beautiful world. Since I like simplicity and cuteness, our illustrations are that way :D

My first step, as well as what inspires me, is to identify what designers need, because we want to help them. In the past, I have found myself in the same position whenever I need 3D illustrations, but I cannot find specific illustrations, or I cannot find a complete pack that includes everything I need. Because of this, we always serve countless illustrations in a single package.

Then, we need to decide which style will work best for the illustrations (like an appropriate color). However, we mostly use cute and simple styles because I like these styles and believe that there is a need for this kind of style among designers. Once the concept is created, we work on the production, quality checking, and previewing, then we send it off to our beloved IconScout!

3. What type of software and design tools do you use?

Our team works with Blender and Figma. Our main reason for using them is that these applications are free, so we don't have to do anything illegal. Also, Blender files are quite common in the 3D world, so designers find it easier to use. And of course, we used Figma to create the awesome preview images. We love Blender and Figma!

4. What advice would you like to give to designers from the IconScout community?

We should never lose sight of our main goal, which is to fulfill designers' needs with our design assets that will simplify their work. The main thing to consider when deciding what asset will be created by us is what is needed by the world.

6. If you were to pick your  favorite asset on IconScout, what would it be?

I love this Ramadan 3D Illustration Pack because it's really needed for Muslims to celebrate Ramadan!

7. What are three things you love about IconScout?

IconScout is a great way to contribute to the design community because it has a lot of traffic and pays contributors well. To be honest, I like the IconScout team's efforts in helping me submit hundreds of illustrations to their site. So there's no need for me to manually add metadata!

8. What are your thoughts on the members and culture of the IconScout team?

One simple word, AWESOME. I never find this kind of environment quite like this. The IconScout team is always happy to assist me in making my contributions easier and faster!

9. How do you see your future with IconScout?

I think IconScout is a fantastic way to spend time because it has so many cool features. As we can see, IconScout has integrations for Canva and other companies to make our assets more accessible! We need to contribute more to our design community, especially IconScout!

10. What are the benefits you have received from uploading your work on IconScout?

IconScout has given me a lot of income because they provide us with a high payment rate that you won't find on any other site! In addition, I have a chance to be featured on their site like in this interview :D

11. How did IconScout as a marketplace help accelerate the growth of your work?

The main benefit is that it’s such an honour to be an IconScout contributor and present Fuwa Team’s masterpieces to the world. I am also glad that we can help designers from everywhere! This incredible experience would never have occurred to me. It's as though I'm living a dream!
