Designer Interview | Piwa Sringiurai

Today for our Designer Interview blog series we have amazing Piwa as known as Victoruler with us. We all know how versatile and amazingt artist she is. We are more than happy to have her this interview session with her.

We have asked her questions about her life and journey as a designer. How her passion for illustration made him the designer he is today. Let's know from her now about her inspiring story.

Hi! Piwa, tell us a bit of yourself?

Hello, My name is Piwa Sringiurai, also known as Victoruler. When I was a kid, I used to love watching movies, animations, and reading manga. I was quite a bit of a nerd. So I initially wanted to be a Film Director. I had quite a niche for show business. I even wanted to make animation films, so to achieve that, I drew and have been drawing a lot since then as a hobby.

What made you want to become a designer? Also, tell us a bit about your journey as a designer.

When I was in University, I was obsessed with Digital Painting, especially Characters Design. Initially, I practiced a lot by myself. As I mentioned earlier, I enjoyed drawing as a hobby, practicing colors, experimenting with light, shaping anatomy, and posting my work on community art.

For three years, I worked as a 2D artist at a game company and as a Storyboard artist in Advertising Industry. When you have to fulfill orders for your boss and client, every day becomes more complex and challenging. I needed the freedom to create something, enjoy the process, and have fun with my work, so I quit my routine job, and my journey as an Icon Designer began.

It's not easy when you start something new. However, Both Digital Painting and Icon Designing are not the same things. I tried to find how I could apply the skills I learned in Digital Painting to Icon Designing. Besides, researching the business target audience and the stock market also played an influential role. After I made my first Icons set available at stockmarket, I got good feedback. I was delighted with my work and appreciated myself.

How would you describe your style?

Filling in colors is and always has been my favorite part among all the elements of the icon design process. I like to use colors that will get your attention which looks lovely and vibrant. I adjust the saturation of various shades of the same color in this technique to make my design more aesthetically pleasing. Well, to be precise, Character design is one of my favorite things to do.

Where do you find inspiration for new designs?

Simple stuff around me, which I use daily life, the people around me, family and friends, delicious food, other perspectives, specific circumstances, global issues ignite my inspiration. Especially when I'm watching a movie and saw the lighting and color tone looking great, suddenly an idea pops up in my head that makes my day brighter.

What pieces of work you most proud of and why?

My Coronavirus and comforting things Icon Pack is something I am most proud of. Many of my coronavirus icons went live during the pandemic, which is still available online at Iconscout.
I want to create some topics that encourage emotional and coping skills also spreading positivity. I want to create a lovely style, with sweet and soft colors tone. Hopefully, you will like it too.

What made you want to become a contributor on Iconscout?

At first, I knew nothing about Iconscout. Mohit had invited me back then to check out the website and consider becoming a contributor, thus part of Iconscout. I connected with the whole vibe and decided to create an account, and began uploading my work to the website. I believe there is a stock market opportunity here that you should not pass up.

What are the benefits you have received by uploading your work on Iconscout?

There are many growing digital stockmarket places, and Iconscout is one of them. Many websites have a distinct platform and a diverse target audience. Uploading work to a website will earn more money, but the most crucial benefit I get on Iconscout is that a wide range of customers can use your work. Iconscout is a website that will assist you in need, and they are constantly improving the website.

What advice do you have for future Iconscout contributors?

Knowing your target audience is essential for any marketing strategy, but the most important thing is first to understand yourself. What do you want to do? What styles do you like? Which is worth it if you can do it in the long term. Then, do it, upload your work to the website, and let your work provide an answer for you. Quality is more than Quantity, be open-minded to learning new things.

At last, tell us three things you like about Iconscout?

There are so many things I can say here but I would like to keep it very simple and clear. Here are some major pointers.

  • Giving more opportunities, a more comprehensive range of customers.
  • Support takes care of contributors, and they help from tagging to uploading, even promote them on social media.
  • Friendly use platform, I love dashboard uploading to use easily. They are constantly improving their website, thus improving sales of contributor's assets.
