Designer Interview: Fernando Mejia, 3D artist

Tell us about your role and what you do. What kind of design work does it involve?

Hello, I'm Fernando Mejia. My IconScout username is fernandomejia08, I am 24 years old and currently living in Colombia. I'm a 3D Artist specializing in character design, motion design and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). My role as a 3D Artist is freelance and that's how I lend my services to different clients around the world, creating amazing 3D characters for marketing, branding and whatever the client needs.

What is your primary source of inspiration, and what is your creative process? How would you describe your style?

I get my inspiration from anywhere, but especially from different TV shows, movies and video games. So any time I get an idea, I go to the PC and I start to work till I'm satisfied with the result. I can say I'm a little perfectionist with my work cause I love to make everything perfect.

My style is a little mix of kawaii design, cute illustrations and lots of colors. Finally, I look at sites like Behance, Pinterest, Dribbble or ArtStation to get new and crazy ideas for future projects.

During the process, what type of 3D software and design tools do you use?

I've been working with Cinema 4D for many years and that's the software I use to create all my content, I love to use it cause it's really useful, practical and I love the results I’ve getting on it.

What advice would you like to give to the designers from the IconScout community?

Of course, I'd tell them to keep up the great work, and the most important thing is to make everything with love, because when you do everything with passion and love the result would be amazing and life would reward you for it.

Of course, my IconScout username is fernandomejia08. I use different social media handles for designs, in this case I use Behance and Instagram.

If you were to pick your favorite asset on IconScout, what would it be?

I think I would select the little 3D Bot I did for the IconScout Reward Program. Why would I select it? I'd do it because I'm a big fan of sci-fi and this is a cute robot character part of that culture and in general I love the concept I got.

What are three things you love about IconScout?

The three main things I love from IconScout are these:

1. How the team are so helpful and friendly. I just really love that, amazing people helping me to turn my dreams into reality.
2. How easy it is to upload my assets to the platform.
3. How easily my assets are selling.

What are your thoughts on the members and culture of the IconScout team?

I love the IconScout team. They're really amazing people and I really love the way how they help me with all doubts and questions I have.

How do you see your future with IconScout?

I see my future in IconScout as being one of the greatest contributors. I'm planning to publish around 3,000 3D assets exclusively on IconScout, that way a lot of people and companies around the world could know about my work. I’d also like to visit, even for a moment, the IconScout offices.

What are the benefits you have received from uploading your work on IconScout?

I've received money of course, but more than that, more people have seen my work.
